As part of an agreement between US states and Canada, interstate motor carriers are required to file quarterly fuel mileage reports and pay the associated usage fees. This agreement impacts interstate carriers with vehicles weighing more than 26,000 pounds, or vehicles with 3 axles or more. These quarterly filings must be reported to a carrier’s base state on the following schedule: Quarter 1 is due by April 30th, Quarter 2 is due by June 30th, Quarter 3 is due by October 31st, and Quarter 4 is due by January 31st.
